I try to share honest, real-world dining experiences, and this First Watch Wildwood review highlights a useful takeaway for anyone deciding what to order.
This was our first lunch visit to First Watch in Wildwood, Florida. First Watch has a strong reputation for breakfast and brunch, and this visit reinforced one important point: what you order here matters.
First Watch Wildwood Dining Experience: Setting & Service
We sat outside on a really nice day, and the setting was pleasant. Overall, the patio area is comfortable and inviting, and it felt like a good spot for a relaxed meal.
Overall, service was fine. There was a small order mix-up; however, our server handled it professionally and made an effort to correct it. For that reason, I didn’t get the sense that the issue was related to service.

Lunch at First Watch Wildwood: The Main Issue
In this case, we both ordered a “Pick Two” lunch, choosing a sandwich paired with a salad.
Unfortunately, I ordered a roast beef sandwich, and the quality of the lunch meat was extremely poor — to the point that it was essentially inedible. In contrast to freshly sliced beef, the roast beef had the texture and taste of low-quality processed meat. As a result, I ended up leaving most of it on the plate and only ate some of the bread.
That said, the salad wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. The dressing was fine; however, the carrots had a strange, chewy texture — not fresh or crisp.
Meanwhile, my wife ordered a turkey sandwich. While she didn’t complain outright, it was still clear that the turkey was also lower quality.
What I’d Order Again at First Watch Wildwood
As a result of this visit, I’d be very cautious about ordering anything built around lunch meat at First Watch.
That said, many of the breakfast and brunch items looked appealing. Pancakes, eggs, and other breakfast staples are clearly where First Watch shines; in general, it’s hard to go wrong with eggs done simply and well.
For that reason, if I return, I’d stick to breakfast or brunch items and skip lunch sandwiches entirely.
As a First Watch Wildwood review, this reflects a single lunch visit rather than a full look at their breakfast and brunch offerings.
For comparison, we’ve shared more consistently positive lunch and brunch experiences at other local spots in our Restaurant Picks.
Final Takeaway
Ultimately, this wasn’t a service issue, and it wasn’t a setting issue. Instead, it was an ingredient quality issue.
I don’t think this experience means you should avoid First Watch altogether. However, if you’re going for lunch, order carefully. Breakfast and brunch remain the safer bet.
As with all restaurant visits, this reflects a single experience. Menus, suppliers, and execution can change.
