Update: August 31, 2026 — Luma Mediterranean Kitchen says it will officially open the doors to its new Lake Sumter Landing restaurant on Wednesday, September 2. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.
The opening comes just days after we stopped by the new waterfront location and found the permanent Luma signage installed, new landscaping in place, and the exterior of the restaurant looking largely complete.
Luma Mediterranean Kitchen Opens September 2
The September 2 opening will give Luma Mediterranean Kitchen its second location in The Villages.
The restaurant is at 975 Lake Shore Drive, in the new concession building near the Lake Sumter Landing square.
Luma announced the opening in an August 29 social media post, saying it will open its doors Wednesday and hold the ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m.
The Lake Sumter Landing restaurant follows the first Luma Mediterranean Kitchen at Sawgrass Grove, which opened earlier this year.
A Second Luma Location for The Villages
Operated by FMK Hospitality Group, Luma is a fast-casual Mediterranean concept centered around customizable bowls and pitas.
The Lake Sumter Landing location will also have something the Sawgrass restaurant does not: a waterfront setting close to the square.
When the new location was announced , the goal was to have the restaurant ready in fall 2026.
More recently, FMK Hospitality Group reported that construction had reached the finishing stages, with work underway on interior details including tile, wallpaper, and paint.
By our August visit, the progress was easy to see from outside. The permanent sign was up, landscaping was in place, and the exterior appeared close to finished.
What You’ll Find at Luma Mediterranean Kitchen
If you haven’t tried the Sawgrass Grove location, Luma serves build-your-own Mediterranean bowls and pitas with a choice of bases, proteins, vegetables, toppings, and sauces.
Protein options at the existing location include chicken shawarma, gyro, lamb, shrimp, and falafel, along with rice, lentils, greens, and other customizable additions.
Luma’s announcement for the Lake Sumter Landing opening also highlights customizable bowls and pitas, along with gluten-free and vegan options.
The new restaurant is part of the ongoing waterfront changes at Lake Sumter Landing and will add another fast-casual dining option close to the square.
