A Return Visit to Prima Italian Steakhouse in Brownwood

28 May 2026 3 min read No comments Restaurant Review

Our latest Prima Italian Steakhouse review came during a recent return visit to Brownwood Paddock Square, where we found another consistently enjoyable evening out with patio dining, live jazz, and attentive service.

This time, we decided to sit outside on the patio, where we could enjoy the atmosphere of the square while listening to live jazz drifting through the evening air. Between the music, the people strolling through Brownwood, and the comfortable outdoor setting, it felt like one of those classic Villages evenings that reminds you why dining on the squares can still be such an enjoyable part of local life.

The evening also included a thoughtful surprise. Our waitress, Nyoka, brought over a complimentary birthday champagne toast that added a personal touch to the night. Good service tends to stand out, and she helped make the dinner feel relaxed and memorable from start to finish.

What to Expect

  • Atmosphere: Upscale but relaxed, especially on the outdoor patio near the square entertainment.
  • Pace: A slower dinner experience that works well for an evening out rather than a quick meal.
  • Typical Crowd: Couples, small groups, and Villagers enjoying dinner before or after live music.
  • Good to Know: Outdoor seating near the square can be one of the better ways to enjoy the Brownwood evening atmosphere.

We ordered from Prima’s three-course special menu, which included a choice of soup or salad, entrée, and dessert. At $34.99 for several of the featured selections, the special offered solid value considering the portion sizes and overall presentation.

Prima’s three-course dinner special included several entrée options along with salad and dessert.

The meal started with warm rolls served alongside olive oil seasoning and butter, followed by a fresh house salad with mixed greens, cucumbers, red onion, and pepperoncini. The garlic parmesan dressing ended up being one of those small details that quietly stood out over the course of the meal.

One entrée was the Shrimp & Lobster Tail Gnocchi, featuring ricotta gnocchi in a lobster cream sauce with shrimp, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. The lobster tail was nicely prepared, and the rich sauce paired well with the soft gnocchi.

The Parmesan-Crusted Filet Mignon was another standout. The filet was topped with a crispy parmesan crust and served with whipped garlic potatoes and green beans. The steak itself was tender and flavorful, while the potatoes had the kind of smooth texture that works especially well alongside a good filet.

Dessert was a chocolate chip cannoli finished with chocolate drizzle and cream filling. By that point in the evening, though, we were simply too full to finish them at the restaurant, so the cannolis ended up coming home with us for later.

💡 Pro-Tip: The Best Patio Tables

If you’re planning your visit around the live music, try to request one of the tables along the low wall at the edge of the patio. You’ll get a perfect, unobstructed view of the bandstand and the energy of the square, while still having enough privacy for a relaxed conversation. It’s easily our favorite way to enjoy a “dinner and a show” evening in Brownwood.

One thing this Prima Italian Steakhouse review continues to reinforce is how well the restaurant balances an elevated dinner atmosphere without becoming overly formal. You can enjoy a well-prepared meal, sit outside near the live music, and still feel comfortable enough to settle in and relax for a while.

For those looking for an evening dinner option in Brownwood that balances atmosphere, attentive service, and consistently solid food, Prima Italian Steakhouse continues to hold up well on repeat visits.
