Mallory Hill got our round. It did not get our dinner. After a shaky meal there last time, we skipped the clubhouse and went for a Havana Country Club dinner instead. Here’s how that gamble paid off.
We played Mallory Hill yesterday, and the golf was the easy part. The real question was dinner. This time, we weren’t willing to roll the dice on the clubhouse, so we headed to Havana Country Club Restaurant instead.
Our last meal at Mallory had its issues, and one uneven dinner is enough to make anyone think twice. What we wanted was simple: hot food, fair portions and a server who didn’t disappear. In the end, Havana delivered on all three.
What to Expect
- Atmosphere: Lively, with a mix of golfers and other diners.
- Pace: Our food came out hot and in a timely manner.
- Typical Crowd: Golfers coming off the course along with diners there for lunch or dinner.
- Good to Know: Portions were generous, and we were seated immediately on this visit. Wait times could be different during the busier prime season.
Inside our Havana Country Club dinner
Our waitress, Erica, set the tone early. She was friendly and attentive, and she kept everything moving without ever making us feel rushed. That balance is harder than it sounds. Plus, the food hit the table hot and on time.
But here’s the part that matters most: every person at our table liked what they ordered. After our last outing, that felt like a small victory.
First up was the fried calamari. This was no dainty appetizer. Instead, it came out as a full platter, easily enough for the whole table to dig in.
Next came the Southwest Chicken Salad, and no, this is not the salad you order to eat light. Grilled chicken, avocado, egg, cheese, tomatoes and greens were piled on, so it was a full meal in its own right.
Then the Philly Cheesesteak landed, loaded with steak, peppers, onions and melted cheese. On top of that, it came with a generous pile of house-made chips.
Finally, the Fish and Chips kept the big-portion streak alive: two large pieces of fried fish and a mountain of fries. Nobody left this table hungry.
The verdict: Did Havana beat Mallory?
On this visit, yes. No gimmicks and no surprises, because this Havana Country Club dinner simply got the basics right. Service was attentive, the food came out hot and on time, the portions were generous, and everyone at our table walked away happy.
After all, following a round of golf, that is exactly what you want. So for us, skipping Mallory for Havana was the right call. Planning your own visit? For example, check out our Havana Country Club lunch review and the full Havana Country Club menu first.
