Pullman Recreation Center is one of several projects reshaping the south end of The Villages. Nearly every visit reveals new progress, with recreation centers, golf courses, roads and neighborhoods all moving forward at the same time.

During a recent visit, we stopped to check on construction at both the Mustang and Pullman Recreation Centers while also spending some time on two of the area’s executive golf courses. Here’s a look at the latest progress.

The observations below are based on a visit in early July 2026.

Pullman Recreation Center Continues to Take Shape

Construction is moving steadily at Pullman Recreation Center, where the building is now fully framed and roof work is well underway.

When completed, Pullman is expected to feature a railroad-inspired theme, continuing The Villages’ tradition of giving each recreation center its own distinctive identity. The new facility will serve residents in nearby villages including Long Prairie, Merritt Field and Farmstead as the southern expansion continues to grow.

For readers interested in recreation center amenities and programming across The Villages, additional information is available from the The Villages Recreation Department.

From the nearby Beautyberry and Honeysuckle golf courses, the progress is easy to see. The building is now fully framed, making the overall size and layout of the future recreation center much easier to visualize.

Beautyberry and Honeysuckle Continue Serving the South End

While exploring the area, we also played the Beautyberry Executive Golf Course and neighboring Honeysuckle executive golf course.

Although they’ve been open for several months, they’re currently the only executive golf courses serving this part of The Villages. As more neighborhoods fill in south of Central Parkway, they’ve become the primary executive golf option for residents living in the newest villages.

The shared starter shack sits just a stone’s throw from Pullman Recreation Center, making it easy to see how quickly the surrounding area is changing. While golfers head out onto the courses, construction continues just beyond the first tee.

That will eventually change as Timberland and Lakes continue their grow-in, but for now Beautyberry and Honeysuckle remain the only executive golf courses serving the southern expansion.

Mustang and Pullman Continue Taking Shape

Construction is also moving ahead at Mustang Recreation Center, where the farmhouse-inspired building has become one of the most recognizable construction projects in the southern expansion. Together, Mustang and Pullman will give residents in the growing southern communities two new recreation centers, each with its own distinctive architectural theme.

Construction also continues on Meadow View Championship Golf Course, while Timberland and Lakes executive golf courses remain in the grow-in phase ahead of future openings. McNeill Road is also extending farther north, improving access throughout the southern expansion.

South The Villages Continues to Grow

Every visit to the south end seems to reveal something new. Whether it’s another recreation center taking shape, new roads extending into future neighborhoods, or additional golf amenities moving closer to opening, development continues across multiple projects at once.

We’ll continue visiting these locations and sharing updates as construction progresses.
